Here’s how to test your luck on long-shot moose, elk lotteries in eastern states

You don’t need to head West to hunt the majestic elk, or to Alaska, the Yukon or Newfoundland to put your tag on a moose. With a little luck – well, maybe a lot of luck – you can draw a permit through popular lotteries in Pennsylvania and Kentucky for elk, and in three New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont) for moose.
It happens every year: nonresident hunters scoring a permit through the lottery systems in each state.
