Anglers gather for sucker run on the Rifle River in Michigan

Published: , in Outdoor News

Most years, towards the end of March and well into April, there are two migrations associated with the Rifle River in Omer, Mich. One of the migrations is the huge numbers of suckers that leave Lake Huron and head inland to spawn. The other migration is the vast volume of people who head to the town of Omer to fish for those suckers.
On a recent 50-degree day, the banks of the Rifle were lined up with men, women, and kids all with fishing rods in their hands.
