Wisconsin winter rated as severe in the north

The effect of the winter on deer is used to help determine the County Deer Advisory Council recommendations for antlerless deer quotas for the fall hunt.
The Bayfield Peninsula took a pounding this past winter, with consecutive heavy snows pummeling the region, including a mid-April blast that dropped more than 20 inches of heavy, wet snow in Bayfield and northern Ashland counties.
