Ample CWD chatter at Wisconsin’s Waupaca County meeting
Published: , in Outdoor News
It wasn’t an action item on the agenda, but chronic wasting disease (CWD) generated plenty of discussion May 2 at Waupaca County’s Deer Advisory Council meeting in Manawa.
The council met to recommend deer management goals for the county’s 2023 hunting seasons to the DNR. The council’s recommendations include setting an antlerless quota of 8,550 deer, offering three Farmland Zone permits per license, making 2,500 private land and 500 public land bonus antlerless permits available, and holding a holiday hunt, which will run Dec. 24 until Jan. 1, 2024.
