3M to sell miles of undeveloped shoreline on Minnesota’s Mantrap Lake

Late last month, the morning after returning from a trip to California to take in the state’s iconic, towering redwoods, Rich Halvorsen’s phone lit up.
Halvorsen, president of the Mantrap Lake Association in Hubbard County near Park Rapids, said the messages were about Twin Cities-based 3M Company’s decision to sell its 680-acre Wonewok resort and conference center on the lake as part of a company cost-cutting strategy that also includes thousands of layoffs.
