Port Clinton, Ohio — For more than 100 years, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has offered shooting and training opportunities to the public at their facilities located at Camp Perry in Ohio.
The CMP was established in 1903 when Congress and the President established the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice and National Matches. The impetus for its establishment was an idea promoted by President Teddy Roosevelt. He believed that marksmanship skills developed through regular practice and competition contributed to the nation’s defense.
