New York hunters enjoy first Long Island spring turkey season

At noon on May 31, Long Island’s first spring turkey season came to an end.
The season saw hopeful turkey hunters spread out over six major parcels of state land, including the Rocky Point Pine Barrens State Forest, Otis Pike Preserve, Westhampton Dwarf Pine Plains Preserve, Henrys Hollow Pine Barrens State Forest, Barcelona Neck Cooperative Hunting Area, and David A. Sarnoff Preserve, where both archery and shotgun hunting was allowed.
