Notes off a soiled cuff: Pennsylvania Game Commission sponsors dirt-track races to promote hunting license sales

A reader called our office last week to report what he believed to be an indiscretion by the Game Commission. The agency, he said, is sponsoring a dirt track race car!
This on top of “wasting all that money” sending employees to the National Wild Turkey Federation Conference in Nashville. The money could be better spent on habitat, he added.
Turns out the commission actually is sponsoring a race car – along with two races at Selinsgrove and Port Royal speedways in Snyder and Juniata counties, in September. The events, intended to promote hunting season and hunting license sales, are called “Race to Hunting Season.”
