Sitting just below Wisconsin’s northern border with the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is Fay Lake, just a shade or two off the Whisker Lake Wilderness area in the Nicolet-Chequamegon National Forest.
Anyone looking for “wild” in northeastern Wisconsin could start in this area of Florence County and find plenty of exploring to do.
