Shovel Lake resident, Mike Chalich, elected as president of Minnesota Sharp-tailed Grouse Society

Published: , in Outdoor News

For every live-long day for almost four decades, Mike Chalich was a railroad man, traveling about in Minnesota and North Dakota, observing the changes in the landscape as he went.
Work with the Soo Line Railroad, which later became Canadian Pacific Railroad, took Chalich from Remer to St. Paul to Enderlin, N.D., to Minneapolis to Glenwood to Minot, N.D., and eventually back to St. Paul. Now, he’s back to where it all began, living near the old railroad town of Shovel Lake (the railroad is now an ATV trail), down the road from Swatara in Aitkin County, Minn.
