Commentary: Why hunting is important to me – as a member of ‘Generation Z’

Often it can be easy to forget why we started doing something, and what drove us to take a certain action. This can be applied in many parts of life as we like to ponder the rationale behind the actions we take. Sometimes to better appreciate something we must go back and look at the bigger picture.
As a graduate student, I do this often to gather a better understanding of why what I am doing is so important. This same curiosity spilled over into my interest in the outdoors, mainly hunting. I wanted to better understand why we, as a species, hunt.
