West Point cadets go fly-fishing on New York’s Mohawk River

A group of 14 cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point got a taste of fly-fishing during the latter part of the summer when they visited two of the state’s fish hatcheries.
The West Point Fly-Fishing club first toured the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Rome fish hatchery on Sept. 2, with the hatchery manager, Steve Grabowski, who happens to also have a nephew currently attending West Point. Grabowski said the cadets wanted some guidance on fly-fishing the Mohawk River, which runs right by the hatchery.
