Notes off a soiled cuff: 71-year old Pennsylvania hunter grateful for opportunities with a crossbow
The once bitter debate about whether crossbow use should be allowed in the fall archery deer season has cooled a lot in recent years because so many hunters use them to enjoy the autumn woods.
Longtime reader Dave Lewis, of Chicora, Pa., is grateful to the Game Commission for making the decision more than a decade ago to allow crossbows in bow season.
“There has been so much angry discussion on the topic of crossbows over the years – and say what you want – but on Saturday, Sept. 30, this 71-year-old man got his third very worthy buck with a crossbow in the last 12 years,” he said. “Without crossbows, that would not be physically possible for me – and many like me.”
