One of Ohio’s first designated state nature preserves now has a new trail and a new distinction.
Stage’s Pond SNP is now home to a new, wheelchair-accessible walking trail and the state’s 29th designated old growth forest. In a dual ceremony on Oct. 5 at the preserve, state and local officials cut the ribbon to open the trail and conduct tours of the 31 acres of white oaks, bur oaks, black walnuts, and honey locusts now included in the national Old-Growth Forest Network.
