Theodore Roosevelt believed in the restorative benefits of hunting – as well as the importance of conserving wildlife for its own sake. His philosophy of conservation lived on through the actions of government, although opposed by many.
The opposition was primarily from commercial interests – some of the same commercial interests that abused workers and manipulated financial systems.
