By the late summer of 2024, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will no longer own a golf course.
In December, the state Natural Resources Commission provided its stamp of approval for the transfer of Kearny State Park in Palo Alto County to the city of Emmetsburg.  Pending executive council approval, the park and principally its 9-hole golf course will be officially owned by Emmetsburg.
