New York Reader Stories: A gobbler with 6 minutes to spare

Published: , in Outdoor News

One thing I have learned about turkey hunting in western New York at the ripe old age of 72 is to stay put until the very end of legal hunting hours (noon).
I hunt on my property in Rushford (Allegany County) and for some reason I don’t see a lot of turkeys, and they are notoriously quiet. Being a little slower now but still determined to hunt, I arrived a little late to my property on May 1, opening day of New York’s spring gobbler season.
