Dedication of the new Great Council State Park drew hundreds of people on June 7 to what was once the site of a Shawnee Indian village on the outskirts of this Greene County seat of government.
Great Council is Ohio’s 76th  state park and the only one dedicated to telling the story of the Native Americans who once called this part of Ohio home and the first settlers who traded and clashed with them, according to Mary Mertz, director of the Ohio DNR.
