Battle with round gobies intensifies in New York after eDNA is detected in Champlain Canal

One of the biggest potential concerns involving an aquatic invasive species in New York could be literally moving closer to becoming a reality.
Both the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the State Canal Corporation have gone into what they term “rapid response mode” following the positive eDNA detection of round gobies in the Hudson River/Champlain Canal. The location of the detection was at Lock C-2 in Halfmoon, north of Albany.
