Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary designated
Published: , in Outdoor News
On June 6, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries released the final regulations needed to create a new Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary, which will encompass all of the United States’ portion of Lake Ontario east of the border separating Wayne and Monroe counties.
Once the new sanctuary is formally designated later this year, it will become the nation’s sixteenth national marine sanctuary, and the third such sanctuary established within the Great Lakes.
