Bradford County, Pa., hunting camp celebrates 100 years
Published: , in Outdoor News
Steve Watkins grew up in Monroeton, Bradford County, Pa., where his grandparents owned the Marcy Hotel, a popular local landmark.
He and his father hunted bears in the region’s “endless” mountains, and his grand-uncle was a founding member of the Monroeton Gun Club, a 75-acre camp in the midst of 26,000-acre State Game Land 12 on Barclay Mountain.
Although the original cabin is gone, the club is very much alive and celebrating its centennial with a members-only pig roast July 20.
