New archery range opens in Upper Peninsula’s Sands Township
Published: , in Outdoor News
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of longtime members of a Marquette archery club and generosity of a number of area businesses, a 14-target archery range is now up and running near the Marquette County Fairgrounds in Sands Township.
The new archery range replaces one that Deertrack Bowhunters operated and maintained in the city limits near the former Deertrack Village since the 1940s. When the property where the former archery range was located was sold in 2016, the organization was left without a range. Life member and acting president Mark Hirvonen spent years trying to locate a place to establish a new archery range.
