Minnesota DNR plans for a walleye limit of two on Mille Lacs beginning Aug. 16

With angling pressure about one-third of Minnesota DNR projections and a walleye take that’s just over 26% of the total allowable state angler kill, DNR officials told members of the Mille Lacs Lake Fisheries Advisory Committee on Monday that they’re proposing – beginning Aug. 16 – a two-fish walleye limit with a harvest slot of 18 to 20 inches (with one over 28 inches allowed in possession).
The department originally had planned to allow for a one-fish limit and a harvest slot of 21 to 23 inches.
“There are still signatures that need to go on documents,” said Brad Parsons, DNR Fisheries Section manager, who said that was likely to occur this week.
