The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources game wardens are asking for help in an investigation of a deer poaching scheme involving dozens of deer and covering almost 200 square miles in Fond du Lac, Washington, and Dodge counties.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt said the investigation started when a resident called the DNR.
“In mid-July we got a call of a strong odor coming from garbage at the neighbor’s house,” Waldschmidt said.
