The countdown has begun.
In a few weeks more than a quarter-million bowhunters are expected to head afield in Michigan in hope of tagging a prized white-tailed deer.
Last year, according to the DNR, some 286,581 hunters participated in the state’s regular bow season, which runs Oct. 1-Nov. 14 and Dec. 1 through Jan. 1. Those bowhunters killed an estimated 110,339 whitetails including 79,045 bucks and 31,294 antlerless deer.
