The last days of September and the early part of October are a time when so much happens in New York’s sporting world. And Sept. 28 is a key date.
The fourth Saturday in September, and in this case Sept. 28, is National Hunting and Fishing Day, an event created in the 1970s by the Nixon administration that is now championed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. In New York, much is centered around NHFD, as it one of four free fishing events that take place during the year.
