Voyageurs park ranger drowns during rescue in northern Minnesota

The National Park Service reported Sunday that a law enforcement park ranger at Voyageurs National Park died that day while responding to a call for assistance on Namakan Lake in northern Minnesota’s St. Louis County.
On Monday, the NPS identified the fallen ranger as Kevin Grossheim, 55, of Kabetogama. He was described as “a dedicated law enforcement officer, emergency services volunteer, member of the community, and beloved husband and friend,” in a VNP press release.
