Wisconsin DNR collects 3.5 million Chinook eggs for Lake Michigan stocking

Wisconsin DNR fisheries crews handled 4,580 king salmon at the Strawberry Creek facility near Sturgeon Bay this fall, about 10% above than the long-term average.
More than 3.5 million Chinook eggs were taken from more than 600 of the healthiest females and fertilized with sperm from a cross-section of males. After a series of steps designed to produce disease-resistance and improved hatching success, the eggs were trucked to the Wild Rose State Fish Hatchery.
