Michigan gun hunters tag nearly the same amount of deer as last year

Michigan deer hunters reported a harvest of 135,963 whitetails during the 16-day firearms deer season, which ended Nov. 30. That includes 85,942 bucks and 50,021 antlerless deer reported through mandatory online registration.
That total is down less than 1% from the reported firearms harvest in 2023, according to the DNR.
“Overall, I think the season went pretty well,” DNR’s acting deer, elk and moose specialist Chad Fedewa told Michigan Outdoor News. “The (harvest) numbers were up substantially in the U.P.”
