Ohio aquaculture just a small part of Ohio’s ag
The mission of the Ohio Sea Grant College Program, which is headquartered at Ohio State University in Columbus and operates F. T. Stone Laboratory at Put-in- Bay, is education, research and outreach.
This summer, Ohio Sea Grant hosted a conference, called “Discover Ohio Aquaculture,” which brought producers, stakeholders, and decision-makers together to discuss the current state of Ohio’s aquaculture industry. There, members learned that 30 species of fish were raised in the state. One of the presenters then was Aquaculture Extension Specialist Nicole Wright, who gave a brief overview of the topic to an online audience called “Fish Farming, Food Systems, and Recreation Aquaculture in Ohio.”
