Anomaly? Surveys show a below-average hatch of walleyes in Western and Central Basins of Lake Erie

On Dec. 12, the Ohio DNR Division of Wildlife released the combined results of Lake Erie’s fisheries agency’s trawling surveys. An annual index is produced from data collected from approximately 80 sampling locations in Ohio, Michigan, and Ontario waters, expressed in fish per hectare (ha), an area equal to 2.471 acres.
