Mainland ice on Ohio’s Lake Erie likely finished, islands still a go for now

In an ever-changing ice fishing scenario, many anglers who were on a hair trigger awaiting the now more uncommon opportunity to get onto Lake Erie’s ice may have gotten their wish granted if they responded quickly.   
A far-reaching polar vortex that delivered arctic weather in the form of an unprecedented 10 inches of snow in New Orleans also quickly froze Lake Erie in mid-January.
