Michigan DNR promotes mass timber development

Ever heard of mass timber? It’s a growing trend in the forest products industry in which wood is used to make structural elements such as columns, beams or panels for construction products instead of using steel or concrete or in conjunction with traditional building materials.
Scott Whitcomb, director of public land at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, says you can think of mass timber as “plywood on steroids.”
