Gray wolf sightings remain rare in Illinois, thus an expected appearance by one in Will County is getting plenty of attention.
It’s been exactly a decade since wolves, mountain lions, and black bears were officially protected by the Illinois Wildlife Code. Since then, only a few of each species have been confirmed here, though gray wolves continue to make news around the country due to listings and delistings by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
