Ice still hanging on for Ohio anglers off Lake Erie’s islands

In what has become a welcomed surprise after years of brief or no opportunities for ice fishing on Lake Erie, hundreds of ice fishermen have been fishing off the islands daily since about mid-January.
As of the time of this writing, mainland ice is very limited, but another Arctic blast is underway. It is not common, but not unheard of, for fishable ice to form in February.
