Mille Lacs Fisheries Committee pushes for three-walleye limit at start of opener-water season

Unlike a typical February gathering of the Mille Lacs Fisheries Advisory Committee during which the Minnesota DNR officials come to the table with the allotted walleye poundage the state can take for the coming season, this winter’s meeting was slightly different.
Because the DNR and Ojibwe bands with Mille Lacs fishing rights are currently negotiating on what that poundage could be – not only for next season, but a potential, multi-season agreement – discussion focused on what MLFAC members would like to see regarding walleye regulations, without DNR estimates ready.
