Sharpshooters to cull deer at 2 Pittsburgh parks

Published: , in Outdoor News

Despite declaring the second year of controlled bowhunting in city parks a success, officials in Pittsburgh have enlisted federal sharpshooters to cull deer through the end of March in the two largest parks.
Although 50 archers had harvested a total of 199 whitetails in Frick, Riverview, Schenley, Highland, and Emerald View parks when the season ended Jan. 25, marksmen from the U.S. Department of Agriculture were slated to begin performing night-time targeted removal in Frick and Riverview the week of Feb. 11.
