Walleye total allowable catch limits drop a bit from 2024 levels on Lake Erie

On March 20, Lake Erie’s fisheries agencies met to set the 2025 walleye and yellow perch total allowable catch (TAC) harvest limits.
The total allowable catch (TAC) for walleyes in the western and central portions of Lake Erie for 2025 was set at 11,373,000 fish, 11% less than the 12,858,000 fish allowed in 2024. A combined 8,522,037 walleyes were harvested in 2024 within Ohio, Ontario, and Michigan waters of Lake Erie, according to data from the lake’s fishery managers.
