New York’s 2024 whitetail harvest up from 2023 but still below five-year average

Published: , in Outdoor News

New York’s white-tailed deer harvest increased by 6.4% in 2024 compared to 2023, with hunters taking an estimated 223,304 whitetails last season compared to 209,781 in 2023. The take, however, is below the five-year average of 226,238 whitetails.
The increase was reflected in both the adult male and adult female harvest, as hunters opted to take fewer fawns, both male and female in 2024 (which includes the January 2025 season on Long Island).
