Minnesota commission says no to expedited CWD outreach project in the southeast

On Wednesday, June 11, three projects were presented to the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Natural Resources, all seeking immediate funding from a pool of Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund dollars for “emerging issues.”

Emerging issues involve the types of projects that qualify for ENRTF dollars but have some type of imminent need for funding sooner than the annual process that takes about a year. One such project, presented by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, was related to chronic wasting disease in the southeastern part of the state – specifically newly endemic DPAs 646, 647, and 648.
