Southern Illinois ecologist named ‘volunteer of the year’ by National Wildlife Federation

Martin Kemper practiced what he preached – and still does. The retired ecologist keeps busy volunteering for organizations like the Prairie Rivers Network, Master Naturalists, the DuBois Center, and more. He’s handy with a camera in the outdoors, too.
In a much-deserved national nod, the former Illinois DNR biologist recently received the National Wildlife Federation’s prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award.
