A white-tailed deer in an advanced stage of chronic wasting disease was discovered near the Allegheny County, Pa., border in early June, stoking concerns about CWD’s potential to spread to urban-suburban Pittsburgh.
The emaciated doe was found, and euthanized, in Freeport, Armstrong County just inside Disease Management Area 3, about 25 miles north of Pittsburgh.
