Red Cedar chain’s walleyes, panfish the main draw on this northwest Wisconsin water

The DNR fisheries team out of the Barron office ran a survey on the Red Cedar Chain of Lakes in 2023 to gauge the health of the game fish and panfish fisheries.
The chain includes Red Cedar Lake (1,897 acres, 53 feet), Balsam (325 acres, 49 feet) and Hemlock (357 acres, 21 feet), and forms the headwaters of the Red Cedar River in northeastern Barron and southeastern Washburn counties.
