The past director of the Wyoming Fish and Game Department has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the next director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Brian Nesvik succeeds Paul Souza, who stepped in on April 8, 2025 as acting director of the agency. Souza took the reigns from Martha Williams, a President Biden appointee, who held the post March 8, 2022 to Jan. 20, 2025. She vacated the position when President Donald Trump took over the presidency. U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) praised Nesvik’s qualifications.
