All preliminary indications point to another good bear hunting season this fall in Michigan.
According to the DNR, bear populations are stable to growing across the state and hunter success has been very good in recent years.
“In the Upper Peninsula we’ve been allowing the population to grow gradually and we’ve been successful in doing that,” DNR wildlife biologist Barb Avers told Michigan Outdoor News. “In the northern Lower we’re at the point where bear numbers have really been increasing so we increased the harvest there and are seeing some stabilization.”
