Outdoor Insights: Update on muskie study from Minnesota’s Leech Lake, and a salute to Brown County PF

At the MN-Fish board meeting last Thursday, Aug. 7, Bemidji State grad student Baylor Short presented an update on the Leech Lake muskie study, which kicked off in May.
The research began in response to concerns about the growing angling pressure on the 112,000-acre lake’s important muskie resource, particularly in the era of forward-facing sonar. Sponsors of the three-year study include the DNR, MN-Fish, Bemidji State, and the Leech Lake Band.
