Urban areas in Wisconsin struggling to control deer numbers
Published: , in Outdoor News
The city of West Bend donated 2,400 pounds of ground venison to The Full Shelf Food Pantry this year. The venison came from 83 deer shot by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) sharpshooters as part of the city’s deer abatement program.
All the adult deer were tested for chronic wasting disease and none tested positive. West Bend was one of 42 communities that received urban/nuisance deer removal permits issued by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) last year.
