Apostles’ Outer Island lake trout cooperating this summer on Lake Superior

Published: , in Outdoor News

Active lake trout have been rewarding fishermen this summer who are willing to run the more than 20 miles from Bayfield, Wis., to the Outer Island area of the Apostle Islands archipelago.
Not all fishermen have the type of boats needed to make that run safely. Those who don’t, but still want to catch lake trout, can hire a charter captain to get out there. Dave Schulz, of Iron River, is a retired DNR forester and former superintendent of the Brule River State Forest. Schulz also happens to be a licensed charter captain who loves fishing and introducing people to Lake Superior.
