Wave tracker buoys making Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods safer for anglers

It was an idea that Joe Henry had thought about, and talked about, for a while. Similar to technology used in the interest of boater safety on the Great Lakes, why couldn’t users of Minnesota’s expansive Lake of the Woods have a means to track wave action from afar? he asked.
Henry, executive director for Lake of the Woods Tourism, said the effort to make it so recently became reality: a wave height buoy system that, most importantly, offers information to better ensure angler safety on the 300,000-plus-acre water.
