Bear hunt prospects are good in Minnesota, but not likely as good as 2024

While the expected upcoming Minnesota bear harvest might not be as impressive as that of a year ago, weather conditions when the season kicks off Monday, Sept. 1 couldn’t be much better, per forecasts. And besides, a season such as last year’s doesn’t come around often.
A lack of “natural foods” in northern Minnesota a year ago resulted in a harvest of 3,530 bears, nearly double that of 2023. Further, and perhaps more remarkable, was the hunter success rate of 61% in the state’s quota zone.
